REF’s 10 year College Reunion: Part I

The third weekend in October REF and I made our way up to Winston Salem for his 10 year college reunion from Wake Forest!  We had great plans that week of being SUPER organized and ahead of game. We wanted to leave Charlotte at a reasonable hour in order to make dinner with all our friends.  Thursday night after we got home from the hospital visiting baby Jack we packed and organized all our stuff.  I had even baked and iced 48 cupcakes!  The plan Friday was to meet at home at 3:00pm and jet out of town!

I was able to work through lunch and got home 30 minutes ahead of REF.  I finished packing all of our stuff and loaded up the car.  When REF got home he just quickly changed his clothes and we were on the road!  It wasn’t even 3:00pm yet!  We were thrilled!

The first hiccup came when we realized that we didn’t pack our tailgate chairs, no big deal.  We can get new ones while we’re there or do without.  The next glitch came 30 minutes away from our house when we realized that is was “RACE WEEKEND” in Charlotte.  We’re talking NASCAR kids, and this means traffic for DAYS.  We ended up sitting in standstill Charlotte traffic for an hour.  NO BIG DEAL, we’re ahead of schedule, right?  We finally got to Winston Salem at about 10 after 5:00.  We thought this was a pretty good cushion.  We went straight to campus to pick up our homecoming packet and to grab REF a new shirt for game day.  We ran into a few friends and enjoyed a BEAUTIFUL fall afternoon.  Then we leisurely made our way to the hotel.

We arrived at the hotel at 6:00pm…dinner was at 7:00, but we’re both super fast.  I grabbed us some coffee and hopped in the shower.  While I was in shower REF asked where I had put his hang up clothes.  I instantly froze.  His hang up clothes?!  I hadn’t seen those!  I peaked out of the shower and let him know I didn’t pack them.  Our eyes met and we realized he had NO CLOTHES for our nice dinner out and then reunion party later that evening.  He does NOT over pack.  OH MY GOSH!  I quickly yelled for him to just jump in the car and head to the mall.  He grabbed his shoes and keys and left.  This was 6:20.  I finished up in the shower and got on my phone.  I googled for Jos A. Banks.  I knew they were typically in shopping centers and not in malls, which could be faster.  They told me where they were located and I told the man on the phone that my husband would be running in and needed dress pants, dress shirts and possibly a blue blazer, asap.  I gave them his measurements, which I didn’t know I knew, but somehow found in the recesses of my brain.  Then I called REF and told him to head there.

To my amazement REF walked in the door at 6:48 with a bag of new clothes.  He jumped in the shower while I ironed his shirt.  He shaved and was dressed.  We were in the lobby at 6:55pm.  I told you we were fast.  When we finally had a chance to breath REF told me that it wasn’t my fault about the clothes.  Apparently he had RE-HUNG them in our closet on Thursday night.  They were not with the rest of his stuff.  I still felt pretty badly, but luckily the folks at Jos A. Banks helped him and they had a SUPER sale going on so we didn’t spend TOO much (No, Jos A. Banks did not pay us to say this).

Here is a picture of the majority of our group at dinner.  I’ll do a post on the game and the 10 hour tailgate tomorrow.

That is hilarious! One time I went to a wedding in DC with my BF at the time (not Kevin!) and he forgot his hanging back so we went to the closest place which was brooks brothers. eeeks, that was a pretty penny.

Hiliarious. Glad Jos A. Banks was able to help. I assume they sent you to the one in Thurway shopping center. They are always super nice there!
