I’m an aunt

Charles Petersen

On Friday morning I was sitting at my desk and had an urge to call my mom to check in on her.  She was on her way to the triangle to spend the morning with my sister.  They were going to run errands that day.  I was scheduled to travel up to the triangle myself on Saturday morning.  My sister and I were going to take care of some last minute details before her baby arrived.  Little baby Charlie had a different plan.  At approximately 9:42pm on September 30, 2011 Charles Petersen came into this world.  He weighed 7 pounds 4 ounces and was 21.5 inches long.

My sister and brother-in-law were completely calm and relaxed.  They called to say that Charlie was here and my mom, dad and I rushed over to the hospital to meet him!

I think Charlie looks extra small next to his daddy!

My mom and dad spent Saturday doing errands for the new parents and I spent the day in the hospital holding my new nephew.  Elizabeth and I had fun changing his clothes a bunch and I even changed two very dirty diapers!  I just love his cable knit onesie with the train on his feet!  I know this little boy will visit most of his family by train!

My parents had a wedding to attend in Chapel Hill on Saturday night so they stopped by the hospital on the way to the wedding.  I think they might win the award for the most dressed up grandparents!

Look how comfortable that little boy is with his mommy.

This is after my first attempt at a swaddle.  I did NOT do too well.  I think I need to go to aunt class or practice on Winston.

On Sunday Charlie got to come home for the first time and REF was there to meet him.  REF just talked away to little Charlie.  He must really love that little guy, because prior to Charlie getting home Grandma had him washing my sister and brother-in-law’s windows!

My dad “Grumpy” was so nervous to hold Charlie.  He claims that  my mom never let him hold my sister or me.

REF and I wanted to see how the fabric sling thing worked so Charlie got to take his first ride inside of it on Sunday afternoon.

I can’t believe my big sister has a baby and I can’t believe that I’m an aunt.  I have to say that being an aunt so far is the coolest thing I’ve ever had happen to me.  I’m totally 100% in love with this boy.  He’s been the first thing that I think of when I get up in the morning and the last thing I think of when I go to sleep.  I cannot wait to get back up to their house to hold him some more.

This last picture was taken on my iphone after I swaddled him up using those miracle blankets.  I just love the concerned face he is giving us.

So happy for you all!
